Good morning from Tennis Paradise, Court Theorists! ☕️🌴😎

🎾 Again: Mirra Andreeva was two points from winning the match against Katerina Siniakova. And that’s when things went off the rails. By the time she lost the second set — and eventually the match — she was in full-on brat mode, which is something we’ve seen plenty of from the 18-year-old. After the final point, she chucked her racket into the net, grabbed her gear, and got off the court. But not before he turned to the crowd and gave a visible and audible “fuck you all, fuck you all.”
What she said: “I’m not really proud of how I managed it. I’m not really proud of how I handled it in the end,” Andreeva said after the match. “Those are the things that really need to work on soon. I don’t know. Not in the future, but whenever I get the chance.”
Yes, but: This is a repeat pattern. She did the same thing at the Australian Open. And that was after she won the match.
Question: We all made excuses for her when she behaved like this at 16. It’s not getting better. When do we accept that this just may be who she is?
🎾 Battle of the SoCal guys: Not to pat ourselves on the back too hard, but did we call that Alex Michelsen vs. Taylor Fritz banger in The Daily Theory yesterday, or what? Michelsen took down the former Indian Wells champ in a hard-fought battle, 6-4, 7-6, saving a set point in the tiebreak. Fritz struggled in the wind, while Michelsen didn’t let the elements keep him from playing aggressively. And, if you look at the stats, you’d see they’re nearly identical in almost every category. Except one: how they handled second serve points.
What he said: “I played higher than my average level,” Michelsen said after the match. “That's what you have to do to beat a guy like him.”
Next: Michelsen faces Medvedev in the 4th round.
🎾 One to watch: Joao Fonseca vs. Jannik Sinner (4th round - ATP 1000 - Indian Wells): This match will have some of the best ball-striking you’ll see from both sides of the court all tournament long. The question is: Will Fonseca have the patience to pull the trigger on the right ball?
The record: This will be the first time Joao Fonseca and Jannik Sinner face off.
On the line: As Fonseca put it after his win over Tommy Paul on Sunday, “We tennis players, we look forward to playing against the top players, so it’s going to be a pleasure, and hopefully I can get the win.” As for Sinner, there will be questions if he loses following a semifinal loss in the Australian Open and an early exit in Doha — the only two other tournaments he’s played in 2026.

🎾 🏆 🎤 YOUR CALL
(Yesterday’s poll results: 66% of you wanted Alex Michelsen to win. Michelsen won, 6-4, 7-6.)
And that’s game.
