Serena Returns, Grass Season Is Rainy Season & More

Good morning, Court Theorists! ☕️🌱

Today’s tennis mood: Ready to celebrate, but also a little eye-rolling.

Let’s tennis!
-Allen

🎾 Patience, please: Grass season is also the rainy season. And that meant that opening day for the lawns left many matches incomplete. So, today’s a packed schedule with lots of faves on the court in London, Stuttgart, and ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

🎾 Happy Serena Day!: The day we’ve been anticipating is finally here. Serena Williams is set to take court in London in the final match of the day on Andy Murray Arena. In case you missed it, she’s playing doubles with Victoria Mboko, and they’ll have serious competition on the other side of the net in Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe — the third seeds. How will it go? It kind of doesn’t matter. Unless your name is Serena Williams, that is.

🎾 One to watch: Serena Williams and Victoria Mboko vs. Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe (London - WTA 500 - 1st round): Watch this one because the GOAT is back! That is all.

(Yesterday’s poll results: 57% of you called for Tommy Paul to defeat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Unfortunately, Paul pulled out of the match just minutes before the players were set to step out on the court.)

And that’s game.
