Good morning, Court Theorists! ☕️☀️
Today’s tennis mood: Setting up for a full day of great matches and hoping for the best for Jack Draper.
Let’s tennis!

🎾 On tap: Across the board, we’ve got some seriously stunning matches lined up today. Eala vs. Shnaider? Rybakina vs. Fernandez? Basilashvili vs. Alcaraz? Zverev vs. Griekspoor? Cobolli vs. Berrettini? Paul vs. Darderi? Come on! And that’s not even the half of it. Get the full rundown below.
🎾 One big interview: Jack Draper sat down for a Q&A with Bagel magazine, and although they addressed his new hobby (gardening) and his new body modification (nosering), the conversation quickly turned to injury.
What he said: “There's a lot of young tennis players now looking at the tour schedule and people say, “Oh, you don't need to play every week,” but at the end of the day, young players want to be number one. And to do that, you have to play week in, week out,” said Draper. “There's been a lot of money-making decisions in tennis, especially from higher up. And although there's been a lot of good stuff going on, they’re really putting a whole generation in danger, getting injured all the time. It's more to do with the nature of the way the game's going as well: slower courts, slower balls and then athletes getting better. So it’s not in a good place.”
🎾 One to watch: Alex Eala vs. Diana Shnaider (Quarterfinals - WTA 250 - Tokyo): Watch this one for the rematch! These two faced off just last week in Ningbo and put on a highly entertaining match, with Shnaider taking the win 7-5, 6-4.
The record: Diana Shnaider leads the head-to-head record over Alex Eala 1-0.
On the line: Defending ranking points from last year isn’t an issue for either player. But stacking points is an opportunity for both — especially for Shnaider, who could soon reach a milestone of breaking into the top 10.

🎾 🏆 🎤 YOUR CALL
(Yesterday’s poll results: 60% of you called for Lorenzo Musetti to defeat Frances Tiafoe. Musetti won 7-6, 7-5.)
And that’s game.
