Good morning, Court Theorists! ☕️🍓
Today’s tennis mood: Still a bit shocked from yesterday and highly curious about today.
Let’s tennis!

🎾 On tap: It’s semifinals day at Wimbledon for the women, with Coco Gauff taking on Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova battling Marta Kostyuk — all for a shot at the title on Saturday. And it’s also semfinals day for men’s doubles and the final of mixed doubles on Centre Court after the women finish their singles matches. Imagine that. Mixed doubles. On Centre Court.
🎾 You’ve got mail! Did you see my email yesterday about the three ways you can win some Babolat gear? If not, go back and check, because we’ve got some seriously great prizes, thanks to the generosity of our partner, Babolat. I mean, just look at this Wimbledon line. Do you really want to miss out on that? Hurry, because time is running out!
🎾 A Fery, Fery good performance: Arthur Fery is into the semifinals of Wimbledon — an amazing storyline from the British wild card — after defeating Roland-Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 7-6, 6-0. For three sets, he did just about everything right: he played within himself, displayed outstanding classic grass court tennis, and extracted errors (41 unforced errors) from Cobolli.
What he said: “That’s just what I’ve tried to do for the past 10 days,” Fery said after the match. “Just believe in myself, do the best I can do every match, give myself 100%, and see then where that will take me. Today especially, because I’ve beaten him in Australia, so I knew I could do it, and yeah I did.”
Next: Fery faces Alexander Zverev on Friday.
Even better: As if this story wasn’t great already, Fery could take it to a whole other level by winning his semifinal match and playing the final on Sunday, his birthday.
🎾 One to watch: Coco Gauff vs. Karolina Muchova (Semifinals - Wimbledon): Watch this one for the competitive drama between two players who know each other well. And also enjoy the contrasting styles of play that should provide a fascinating contest.
The record: Coco Gauff leads the head-to-head record over Karolina Muchova 6-1. However, Muchova does have the most recent win in Stuttgart from this spring. They’ve never faced each other on grass.
On the line: At this stage, this match is about a shot at the title for both players. For both players, it’s as far as they’ve gotten at Wimbledon. Why not take it all the way when this year has a guaranteed new champion?

🎾 🏆 🎤 YOUR CALL
(Yesterday’s poll results: 93% of you wanted Taylor Fritz to defeat Alexander Zverev. Zverev won 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.)
And that’s game.
