When Leonardo Servadio founded Ellesse in 1959, he set out to seamlessly blend lifestyle fashion and Italian flair for activewear, something of a novelty at the time. By the 1970s, Ellesse became known on the ski slopes and the tennis courts for its bold, yet effortless style that inspired a certain nonchalant confidence — sprezzatura, as Italians like to call it.

Colorful choices, tailored finesse, and fine details all punctuated by the dual Ellesse logos quickly became the hallmarks of court style. Ellesse has been worn on the biggest stages in tennis by titans of the game, including Chris Evert, Boris Becker, Hana Mandlikova, Guillermo Vilas, Tommy Haas, Anna Kournikova, Feliciano Lopez, and Johanna Konta, among others.

As much as tradition is ingrained in everything Ellesse does, there’s always room in the season for fresh design. This fall, Ellesse turned to the U.S. Open and New York City for inspiration.

Nods to the tournament and the city run throughout this season’s collection. For those seeking a burst of urban energy into their tennis wardrobe, be sure to check out the separates showcasing dramatic black backdrops with abstract prints of graffiti and skyline silhouettes in shades of energizing pink.

The city-inspired, high-performance line comes in a warm-up jacket, tank top, skort, tennis dress, and visor.

If New York sophistication is more your speed, consider the line with sleek black and cool grey color blocking supported by perfectly placed accents and highlights.

This line comes in a variety of tanks, tees, skorts, shorts, and dresses.

For the men, New York City street style comes in the color palette of black, grey, and taxi cab yellow.

True to Ellesse’s commitment to fine details, this fall’s collection is also about Rimini stripes, contrast piping, and soft knit necklines and cuffs.

The men’s collection comes in a broad range of separates, including tees, polos, shorts, accessories, and warm-up jackets and pants.
