Let’s tennis!

Three Points

🎾 In memoriam: Tennis legend Niki Pilic has died at the age of 86.

🎾 Book drop: Bjorn Borg’s memoir, Heartbeats, drops in the U.S. today. Some of the juiciest parts have already made their way out into the media thanks to last week’s European release date. But I’m not sure that’s why you read this book. Given how little we heard from Borg over his career (and after), I'm more interested in hearing his perspective on everyday matters.

🎾 Going after slams: The Professional Tennis Players Association has added the governing bodies of the four majors — Tennis Australia, the French Tennis Federation, the All England Lawn Tennis Club, and the United States Tennis Association — as defendants in the organization’s antitrust lawsuit against the ATP and WTA.

  • What they said: “In March, we filed a landmark case challenging the status quo and demanding lasting reform,” the PTPA said in a statement. “To finalize these profound changes, implement them effectively, and ensure they are legally sound going forward, we are now including the four Grand Slams in our case. This is a necessary step to guarantee accountability from all parties and accelerate long-overdue reform across the entire professional tennis ecosystem.”
