Today’s tennis mood: Popcorn-ready plus a bit of mystification.

Let’s tennis!

Four Points

🎾 Day Four: In the first semifinal tie, Italy faces Belgium on Friday. Play begins at 10:00 am ET. Each team will submit the exact line-ups just before the match begins. However, we here at Court Theory would like to see a Berrettini-Bergs match-up.

  • Team Italy: Flavio Cobolli, Lorenzo Sonego, Matteo Berrettini, Andrea Vavassori, Simone Bolelli, Filippo Volandri (captain)
  • Team Belgium: Zizou Bergs, Raphael Collignon, Alexander Blockx, Sander Gille, Joran Vliegen, Steve Darcis (captain)

🎾 Tomorrow’s match: The other semifinal is Spain vs. Germany. Play begins earlier than usual at 6 am ET, presumably to compensate for the rest that Friday’s winning team will get ahead of Sunday’s final.

  • Team Spain: Jaume Munar, Pablo Carreno Busta. Pedro Martinez, Marcel Granollers, David Ferrer (captain)
  • Team Germany: Alexander Zverev, Jan-Lennard Struff, Yannick Hanfmann, Kevin Krawietz, Tim Puetz, Michael Kohlmann (captain)

🎾 Quarterfinals Day!: It’s quarterfinals day at the NCAA individual championships for singles and doubles, men’s and women’s. All of it is on ESPN+ (or whatever they’re calling it these days) starting at 10 am ET. Get the full rundown on the women’s events here and the men’s events here.

🎾 Programming note: Next week, along with professional tennis, The Daily Theory will be off for the week. That doesn’t exactly translate into a week off for me, though. I’ll be working on a few exciting Court Theory projects, and you’ll still hear from me a few times with a new episode of the podcast and a couple of other things. Enjoy the weekend!

And, that’s game.
